Plus, I share my own whimsical designs, and provide the complete and TOTE-ally reliable how-to's for all 20 projects in this book. Enjoy dozens of tips for customizing, personalizing, and designing your own bag. Fun for all levels, non-sewers and experienced quilters, and kids of all ages!  The results are gonna be unforgettable!

" Too many totes and purses are forgettable, me-too projects. Not these which are practical but whimsical designs by such big name quilters as Lonni Rossi, Susan Shie and Diane Gaudynski. Jane Sassaman actually does a tote designed for a bicycle basket. These are fresh and fun, just like Levie's two books on table runners. And, since Eleanor did the technical editing for my book, The Quilter's Catalog, I know she writes clear directions." -- Meg Cox

Updates to the 14-Carrot Gold Bag How-To’s:

The original “What you’ll need” list calls for 1 yard of Timtex, 22" wide, plus 3/4 yard fusible web. But now available at many quilt shops are other thick, synthetic interfacings, and two of them have fusible on either side: fast2fuse Heavyweight double-sided fusible stiff interfacing from C&T, and Peltex II from Pellon. If you use those, you need only 1/4 yard of fusible web for backing the carrot appliqués with batting.

Also, please increase your purchase amounts as follows:

1 1/2 yards, rather than 1/2 yard plaid fabric, enough not only for the lining but also for a generously sized inside pocket

2 yards rather than 1 1/4 yards for the plastic webbing for handles and D-ring tabs will give you extra leeway so you can individualize handle lengths.

Also, all narrow pieces for the gusset – fabric for exterior, lining and optional pocket, plus batting pieces should be cut 6” wide, not 7" wide, as no trimming is necessary.
